Your host
Your host SOY is a marathoner and a DIY enthusiast who builds and repairs almost everything himself — even the smart-lock system. The building is old, but problems get fixed fast. Everyone becomes friends over Wednesday dinner.
The mix
Japanese residents live alongside foreign guests who stay a month or more. Guests rotate every two months at most, so there are always new faces — while Japanese residents keep the house steady. Both languages come up naturally in daily life.
Weekly Dinner
Hide's Table is a weekly international dinner cooked by a resident chef — no MSG, organic ingredients. It is not just for residents: neighbors, past guests who now live in Japan, and travelers staying at other places (found through Peatix and similar) all sit at the same table. ¥1,000 cash; residents are asked to join at least once during their stay. From time to time, SOY's Cooking teaches Japanese home cooking hands-on.
